MARILYN MONBROE

COLLECTION: MASTERS REMIXED

Warhol's Marilyn series is about the mechanical reproduction of an icon — the same face, repeated, flattened, color-shifted until the person disappears into the image. BasicGlitch takes that logic one step further: replace the face with Broboticus in a pleated skirt throwing double rock horns, and alternate with panels of oversized multicolor lips that could belong to either of them. Six panels across blue, yellow, lime green, lavender, purple, and red — Warhol's palette, Warhol's format, Warhol's argument about what fame does to a face. Except the face is a BROBOTICUS chest panel. The lips are whoever's lips you need them to be. The title is perfect.
