INNER CHILD
COLLECTION: SURREALISM
Every artist has a photograph like this — the one that contains the origin story. BasicGlitch ran his through the machine and what came out is this: a kid on a bunk bed, guitar in hand, the room transformed by the BasicGlitch treatment into something that looks like the inside of a feeling. The yellow zigzag rising behind the silhouette reads simultaneously as mountain range and soundwave — which is exactly right, because for someone who has been a musician for 31 years, those two things have always been the same. Circuit traces frame the walls. Neon outlines the furniture. The figure is in silhouette, anonymous, universal — this could be anyone's origin story, which is why it works as art rather than just as a personal photograph.
